Why do we have your personal data?

We process your personal data for the following purposes:

  1. To confirm your identity (Know-Your-Customer or KYC Information)
    Before you can avail yourself of our investment products and services, we need to know who you are, as required by law. We also need to keep track of transactions and report any suspicious activities to financial regulators.This is because of rules against hiding the real source of money that may have been obtained illegally (money laundering).
  2. To provide our products and services
    We collect your personal data so you can start exploring our investment offerings easily and instantly. For example, when you invest in the high-performing funds of our trusted investment partners through our partner platform, we ask for your personal data, including KYC information, and require you to complete our risk profile questionnaire. This helps us understand your risk comfort and recommend the best investment options. We collect this information to make sure your investments are managed properly.
  3. To personalize our products and services
    We collect and analyze your personal data to tailor our investment products and services just for you. By looking at your transaction history, we will understand what you like and need and we can recommend products, customized content, and personalized features that make your experience even better.
  4. To carry out product and market research
    We may use your personal data to find trends and patterns in the market so that we can offer new investment products and improve our services.For example, we offer affordable and different types of investments, to promote financial inclusivity for all Filipinos. We were able to introduce these products because we study your needs.
  5. To manage risk and prevent potential fraud and crime
    We do risk analysis and fraud prevention to protect you, our partners, and our business. We also work with our partner platform to ensure that no one else is pretending to be you and illegally availing of our investment products and services.
  6. To improve our customer service and enhance your experience
    Through the customer experience management team of our partner platform, we may collect additional personal data to answer your questions better. We may record your calls and chats to improve and train our team so that we can provide you a better experience.
  7. To send you updates and other communications
    We may use your personal data to send you important updates on your investment account, the other investment services you use, new features, security alerts, and other relevant communications.
  8. To advertise relevant services and products
    We use your personal data for targeted advertising to show you offers, promotions, and suggestions that match your interests. We also aim to give you personalized advertisements by studying how you use your investment accounts and our investment products and services, your usage patterns, and preferences.

What is our basis for processing your personal data?

We process your personal data for the following purposes: We handle your personal data in accordance with Philippine laws and regulations and international standards. We may use, share, disclose, collect, and transfer your personal data under the following conditions:

  1. Upon Your Instruction. To facilitate your use of our investment products and services, we may, upon your instruction and acting on your behalf, collect your personal data from our partner platform or other partners. At your direction, we may also disclose or transfer your personal data to third-parties. In doing so, you are actively exercising your right to data portability.
  2. Engaging with a Partner. We may be engaged by a company to provide services that involve the processing of your personal data, particularly, when you are availing yourself of their products and services. In this case, we may be required to disclose or transfer your personal data to such companies.
  3. Entering into a Joint Controllership. We may enter into an arrangement with a company in which we both exercise control over your personal data. Consequently, while we may disclose or transfer your personal data to them, we cannot direct their processing of your personal data.

What types of information do we collect, process, and share, and how long do we keep them?

If you decide to open an investment account, we will collect, use, process, and share various types of information. Don’t worry, we will only keep and use them for as long as needed to satisfy the purposes they were collected or to meet legal requirements

  1. Identification (Know-Your-Customer) Information: When you open an investment account through our partner platform, we will ask for some of the personal data you have shared with them. Should we require more personal data, we will ask these directly from you. These include your full name, gender, home address, mobile number, email address, birth details, citizenship or nationality, government-issued ID numbers, your photo, signature, and your investment risk profile. If needed, we might also ask about your job, marital status, income, and other information, as required by the regulations of the Bangko Sentral ngPilipinas (BSP) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).We keep your identification information for at least 5 years after the last transaction you made through our partner platform or after you close your account. We may also keep this information for as long as we are required by anti-money laundering requirements, for compliance with BSP regulations, and for other legal obligations.
  2. Financial Information: Through our partner platform and investment partners, we may collect your sources and amount of income.We keep your financial information for at least 5 years after the last transaction you made or after you close your account. We may also keep this information for as long as we are required by anti-money laundering requirements, for compliance with BSP regulations, and for other legal obligations.
  3. Third-Party Information: We collect information about you from other sources, aside from our partner platform, to improve our services. For example, we may collect additional information from third parties for transaction processing, identity verification, and fraud detection.The length of time we keep your third-party information varies.
    1. Identification Information: These are kept for at least 5 years after the last transaction you made or after you close your account. We may also keep this information for as long as we are required byanti-money laundering requirements, for compliance with BSP regulations, and for other legal obligations.
    2. If relevant to an ongoing investigation: These are kept for up to 10years after completion of investigation or depending on the court's order.
  4. App Use Information: We gather information about how you use the investment products and services we offer in our partner platform.These pertain to the buttons you click, and the activities you do.We keep your app use information for at least 10 years in our backup records.
  5. Biometric Login Information: We collect biometric information stored on your device you use to access your investment account through our partner platform. Examples of your biometric information are your fingerprint and your photo. We keep your biometric login information for as long as you have our partner platform’s app.
  6. Geolocation Information: We collect your location information from the device you use to access your investment account through our partner platform, in order to improve our services, to prevent fraud and detect crime, and to market investment products or services. Some features might not work correctly if you don’t share your location. You can manage this in your device settings.If your geolocation information is relevant to an ongoing investigation, we keep it for up to 10 years after completion of investigation or depending on the court's order.
  7. Information you provide when you contact us: When you contact us by chat, phone, or email, we record our conversation and collect details about you and your concerns. Additionally, we take photos at events you may attend.If it refers to identification information, we keep the information you provide when you contact us for at least 5 years after the last transaction you made or after you close your account. We will keep this information for as long as we are required by anti-money laundering requirements, for compliance with BSP regulations, and for other legal obligations.
  8. Online or network activity information: We collect information about your interactions with our investment products and services in our website, advertisements, social media pages, and other digital platforms, including those of our partner platform.We keep your device information for at least 3 years in our backup records.
  9. Advertising Unique Identifiers: We may collect unique identifiers, directly or through our partner platform, like your iOS Identifier forAdvertisers (IDFA) and Android Advertising ID (GAID) for our advertising activities. You can control how you want to share your advertising identifiers through changing your device settings.We keep your advertising unique identifiers for as long as you have our partner platform’s app.

How do we collect your personal data?

We collect your personal data in several ways:

  1. Direct Interactions: When you use our investment products and services through our partner platform, we may still directly ask for additional personal data from you. We also collect your personal data when you fill-up our forms through online platforms, contact us for assistance, and others.
  2. Via Our Partner Platform: When you use our investment products and services through our partner platform, you instruct GCash to disclose your personal data to us as an exercise of your right to data portability.This includes your KYC information, investment risk profile, transaction history, and other relevant information.
  3. From Other Third Parties: For example, we may receive or send your personal data when you ask another company to transact with us or when you request them to send your personal data to us. This is an exercise of your right to data portability

Who do we share your personal data with?

We partner with different government agencies, various institutions, investment firms and private businesses to provide a wide range of investment products and services. Sometimes, we need to securely share your personal data with them to give you the services you asked for:

  1. Ryse Affiliates: As part of our business and operations we may work with different companies affiliated with us. For example, if you decide to invest in mutual funds, you can start your investing journey instantly and easily through our partner platform and affiliate GCash.Other companies affiliated with Ryse include G-Xchange Inc. (GXI),which runs GCash, Fuse Financing Inc. (FFI); BlockG Virtual Assets, Inc.(BlockG); and our parent company, Globe Fintech Innovations, Inc. (GFI or Mynt).
  2. Partners: We may collaborate with different businesses to offer you abroad range of investment products and services, providing you with greater opportunities to build and grow your wealth. For example, if you invest in our high-performing funds, we may share your personal data with the investment partner managing the funds.
  3. Service Providers: We also share your personal data with trusted service providers who assist us in making our investment products and services seamless and efficient. They help us in various ways, such as answering your questions, analyzing information, managing risk, preventing fraud, and more. They play a big role in making sure that our investment products and services run smoothly for you.
  4. Fraud and crime prevention partners: We are dedicated to protecting you and other users from fraud and other crimes. By sharing some of your personal data, we contribute to a safer and more transparent financial system. This protects you and the broader community.
  5. Law enforcement agencies, regulatory bodies, and courts: We may share your personal data with law enforcement agencies, regulatory bodies, courts, and other public authorities. We will only do this if required by law or to protect our rights, prevent fraud, and ensure the safety of our users and the public.
  6. Changes within Ryse: If we decide to join forces with another company, or if another company buys us or our assets, we might have to share your personal data with that company. If this happens, we will make sure to tell you ahead of time if your information will be handed over to another company or if there will be new rules about keeping your information private.

How do we delete your personal data?

We make sure to destroy your personal data securely so it can't be retrieved or used. We do this by following security measures that are standard in our industry. Once laws or regulations no longer allow us to keep your personal data, we start to delete them.For physical records, we destroy them by shredding. For information stored on electronic media like tapes and hard drives, we completely erase them using secure wipe solutions so they can’t be read. This makes the information unreadable and unusable without authorization.

How do we advertise to you?

To keep you updated with our latest offers and features, we use some of your information for advertising. We may utilize one or a combination of the following ways to do it:

  1. Collecting your information: We gather certain personal details about you, your use of our investment products and services, and your actions within our partner platform, and your advertising identifier (depending on your device settings). We analyze these to better understand your general interests and needs.
  2. Profiling: We use the information we collect to make a “profile” about you. This allows us to gain a broad understanding of what you might prefer. We use this profile to suggest investment products or services that align with your financial goals and risk tolerance.
  3. Targeted ads: We use your profile to show you ads that we think you might be interested in. Rather than showing the same ad to everyone, targeted ads aim to deliver more relevant content to each individual user.
  4. Ad Preferences: This empowers you to choose your advertisements. You may take control of your online experience by customizing the advertisements you see through some of our partner platforms. For example, in the GCash App, if you ever want to adjust your preferences and interests, you can easily disable ad preferences.
  5. Working with partners: We sometimes work with trusted partners, like advertising companies, to help us show you personalized ads. These partners only get access to coded and anonymous information. They are also required to keep your information confidential and comply with laws about protecting your information.

How do we keep your information safe and secure?

Your trust and privacy are important to us. Hence, we aim to be transparent about how and when we share your information, all while ensuring its safety and security. We recognize the risks involved when we process your personal data so that you can avail yourself of our investment products and services.

Someone might attempt to take control of your account (account takeover), pretend to be a family member to trick you into giving away your personal data (social engineering), or even use your cellphone without your permission (hacking). We want to keep your details safe so they won't be used the wrong way, get lost, or be accessed by someone you didn't allow. That's why we've added security measures to help protect against these dangers. These security measures include:

  1. Restricting access: Only certain people are allowed to see your personal data.
  2. Encryption: We code your personal data to keep it private when it’sbeing stored and sent. Encryption is like turning your information into asecret code, which can only be understood by those who have the key.
  3. Multi-factor authentication (MFA): Our partner platform, where our investment products and services are offered, uses MFA. This means you need more than one factor before you can access their application.

We also regularly check how information moves into and out of our systems to make sure it’s protected. We enforce organizational, physical, and technical security measures aligned with recognized industry standards. If we give your personal data to another company to help us with our services, we make them sign a special agreement. This agreement makes sure they follow the same rules we do to keep your information safe.


Additionally, we advise you to stay vigilant and always protect your passwords of your GCash App. Inform us immediately if you suspect your passwords have been compromised. Do we use automatic decision-making processes?

We may make decisions about you using computer systems without human involvement, a process known as automated decision-making. We do this to get a better understanding of you as a customer. By examining your past transactions, portfolio performance, and account balances, we can understand your financial habits, investment preferences, and risk tolerance. This process also helps us anticipate your future needs. For example when you might need to diversify your portfolio, we will offer you new products and services through our partner platform.

What rights do you have regarding your information?

You have several rights under the law:

  1. You can be told about how we handle your personal data (right to be informed).
  2. You can access the personal data we have about you (right to access).
  3. If we're processing your personal data based on consent or legitimate interest, you can object (right to object).
  4. You can ask us to stop, withdraw, block, delete, or destroy your personal data (right to erasure or blocking).
  5. If your information privacy rights have been violated and you've suffered damage, you can claim compensation (right to damages).
